About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool Maker Class A Machinist to join our team. As a Tool Maker, you will be responsible for fabricating, modifying, and repairing various tools, dies, and fixtures used in the manufacturing process. While CNC experience is not necessary, it would be considered a valuable asset for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand tool requirements.

  • Use a variety of precision manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drills to manufacture, modify, and repair tools and fixtures.

  • Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality of finished products.

  • Utilize conventional machining techniques, including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding, to shape and finish workpieces.

  • Set up and operate manual machines to produce parts according to specifications.

  • Collaborate with engineers and tool designers to provide input and suggestions for tool design and improvement.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling and fixtures to ensure smooth production flow.

  • Maintain and repair existing tools, dies, and fixtures to ensure their longevity and functionality.

  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to keep them in optimal working condition.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in machining or tool making is preferred.


  • Basic understanding of metallurgy, types of metals and welding.

                

  • Extensive experience as a Tool Maker or Class A Machinist in a manufacturing or machining environment.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.


  • Strong knowledge of manual machining techniques and equipment operation.

  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and CNC machining is a plus.            

  • Excellent understanding of precision measuring instruments and their application.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.

             

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

           

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
